Woman allegedly beaten to death by husband in Mayurbhanj; accused dies by suicide
Bhubaneswar, May 30: A tragic incident of alleged domestic violence has shocked residents of Mayurbhanj district after a woman was reportedly beaten to death by her husband, who later died by suicide in a nearby forest.
The incident took place in Balibhol village under Karanjia police station limits. The deceased woman has been identified as Jyotsna Rani Tudu, while her husband, Chandra Tudu, is alleged to have carried out the fatal assault before taking his own life.
According to reports, an argument broke out between the couple over a domestic issue at their residence. What began as a verbal altercation allegedly escalated into a violent confrontation, during which Chandra Tudu is said to have physically assaulted his wife.
Jyotsna Rani reportedly sustained severe injuries during the assault. Believing that his wife had died as a result of the attack, Chandra allegedly fled the village and went to a nearby forest.
There, he reportedly ended his life by hanging himself from a tree using a rope. The incident came to light after villagers and family members informed the police.
Upon receiving information, personnel from Karanjia Police Station rushed to the scene and recovered the body of Chandra Tudu from the forest. The body was later sent for post-mortem examination.
Police have registered an unnatural death case and launched an investigation into the circumstances that led to the double tragedy. Officials are recording statements from family members and local residents to ascertain the sequence of events. Further investigation is underway.
