Odisha Government dismisses former Bhubaneswar additional tahsildar over irregularities

Bhubaneswar, May 30: In a significant move against corruption and administrative misconduct, the Odisha government has dismissed Chittaranjan Pilla, former Additional Tahsildar of Bhubaneswar, from government service following findings of serious irregularities during his tenure.

According to official sources, Pilla had served as Additional Tahsildar in Bhubaneswar before being posted as Deputy Collector in Jagatsinghpur district. Allegations regarding irregularities in his official decisions, particularly in land and revenue-related matters, had surfaced during his tenure in the state capital.

Following the complaints, senior departmental officials conducted a detailed inquiry into the allegations. The investigation reportedly uncovered multiple instances of irregularities and violations in the discharge of his official duties.

Based on the findings of the inquiry, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi ordered stringent action against the officer. Acting on the Chief Minister’s directive, Chittaranjan Pilla was dismissed from government service.

Officials said the action reflects the state government's commitment to ensuring transparency, accountability, and integrity in public administration. The dismissal is being viewed as one of the strongest disciplinary measures taken against a government official in recent times.

Chief Minister Majhi has repeatedly asserted that his government follows a zero-tolerance approach towards corruption and maladministration. He has consistently maintained that strict action will be taken against officials found guilty of misconduct, irrespective of their rank or position.

The latest action is expected to send a strong message across government departments that corruption and abuse of authority will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
