Doctors at Koraput Medical College save infant after delicate emergency surgery
Bhubaneswar, May 30: In a life-saving medical intervention, doctors at Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital (SLNMCH) in Koraput successfully removed a metal clip lodged in the throat of a seven-month-old baby, averting a potentially fatal emergency.
The incident occurred when the infant accidentally swallowed a metal clip while playing at home. Within moments, the object became stuck in the child’s throat, causing severe breathing difficulties and putting the baby’s life at risk. Alarmed family members immediately rushed the infant to the government-run medical college hospital for urgent treatment.
Upon arrival, doctors conducted a detailed examination and confirmed that the foreign object was obstructing the child’s airway. Considering the critical nature of the case, a team of ENT specialists led by Dr. Rajesh Kar and Dr. Gopal Nayak decided to perform emergency surgery without delay.
Using their expertise and precision, the doctors successfully removed the metal clip from the baby’s throat during a delicate procedure. Hospital sources said the surgery was completed smoothly and without any complications.
Following the operation, the infant was kept under close medical observation and responded positively to treatment. Doctors later confirmed that the child was out of danger and recovering well.
