Jagatsinghpur Zilla Parishad employee suspended over alleged spy camera in women’s toilet
Bhubaneswar, May 30: The Jagatsinghpur district administration has suspended a Junior Revenue Assistant of the Zilla Parishad following allegations that a spy camera was installed and used inside a women’s toilet at the Zilla Parishad office, triggering outrage and concerns over workplace safety and privacy.
The employee, identified as Sanjay Adheka, was placed under suspension with immediate effect after preliminary findings reportedly indicated his involvement in the incident. The action was taken through an official order issued by the Zilla Parishad, Jagatsinghpur.
According to the order, prima facie evidence and initial investigations suggest that a spy camera had been installed in the ladies’ toilet and was allegedly being used to record activities inside the facility. Authorities described the incident as a grave violation of the privacy, dignity, and modesty of women.
The administration stated that such acts constitute serious misconduct and may attract penal action under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) as well as the Information Technology Act, 2000.
The suspension order was issued by the Collector and District Magistrate of Jagatsinghpur pending completion of a detailed inquiry into the matter. Officials said the move was necessary to ensure a fair and impartial investigation.
The incident has sparked concern among employees and local residents, with demands for strict action against those responsible.
Authorities have assured that the matter is being treated with utmost seriousness and that appropriate legal action will be taken based on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
