CM Mohan Majhi greets nation on 75 years of Somnath Temple reconstruction
Bhubaneswar, May 11: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday extended greetings to the nation on the completion of 75 years of the historic reconstruction of the Shri Somnath Temple, describing it as a timeless symbol of India’s cultural nationalism and civilisational pride.
In a message shared on social media platform X, the Chief Minister said the occasion marks a proud and historic moment for the country. He stated that the grand Somnath Temple stands as a testimony to centuries of struggle, unwavering faith, and the ultimate triumph of India’s rich cultural heritage.
Majhi further noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the nation is observing ‘Somnath Swabhiman Parv’ to celebrate India’s cultural resurgence and self-respect.
“From the sacred land of Odisha, known for the unparalleled harmony of Hari and Hara, I extend my heartfelt greetings and best wishes to everyone on this auspicious occasion,” the Chief Minister said in his message.
The reconstruction of the Somnath Temple was initiated after India’s independence following repeated destruction of the shrine over centuries. The temple was formally inaugurated on May 11, 1951, by India’s first President Dr. Rajendra Prasad.
The 75th anniversary of the temple’s reconstruction is being observed across the country through various cultural and spiritual programmes under the banner of ‘Somnath Swabhiman Parv’.
