Two brothers found dead in Birupa Barrage in Cuttack; police launch investigation
Bhubaneswar, Mar 12: The bodies of two brothers were found floating near Gate No. 1 of the Birupa Barrage under Chaudwar police limits in Odisha’s Cuttack district on Thursday, triggering a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
The deceased have been identified as Debashish Sahu and Shubhasish Sahu, residents of the Mandapada area under the jurisdiction of Chaudwar police station. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community as the brothers had been reported missing for the past two days.
According to reports, the duo had left home earlier but did not return, prompting concern among family members. Their motorbike was later found parked near the Birupa Barrage, raising suspicions about their whereabouts. Since then, family members and locals had been searching for the brothers.
On Thursday morning, fishermen spotted two bodies floating near Gate No. 1 of the barrage and immediately alerted the authorities. Acting on the information, Chaudwar police rushed to the spot and began rescue and recovery operations.
Fire brigade personnel were also pressed into service to retrieve the bodies from the water. Police have started an investigation to determine the exact cause of death and whether the incident was accidental or involved any foul play.
