Two arrested for abduction, rape and murder of woman in Paradip
Bhubaneswar, Feb 27: In a major development in the shocking Tarinigada incident, Adarsh Paradip police have arrested two individuals, including the victim’s boyfriend and a tenant, in connection with the alleged abduction, rape and murder of a Plus III student.
The accused have been identified as Somanath Ojha, the victim’s boyfriend, and Shubham Singh, a tenant in the building where the woman’s body was recovered. Police registered cases against them under multiple serious charges following a detailed investigation that examined CCTV footage, witness testimonies and scientific evidence.
According to reports, investigators recreated the crime scene after both accused underwent medical examinations on Thursday. The arrests followed soon after.
The victim, a resident of Kolar village under Tirtol police limits in Jagatsinghpur district, had reportedly visited the Sarala Temple with Somanath on the day of the incident. After an alleged disagreement, she got off the vehicle and was later seen alone on the Cuttack–Paradip road. Police say Shubham approached her and allegedly offered her a lift.
Investigators suspect she was taken to his rented accommodation, where she was sexually assaulted and later pushed from the rooftop to stage the death as suicide. Police seized her clothes from a gas pipe and recovered CCTV evidence from the spot.
