Bhubaneswar, Feb 26: Panic gripped officials and staff at Toshali Bhawan in Satya Nagar, Bhubaneswar, on Thursday after a fire broke out in the building’s record room. The blaze, suspected to have been triggered by a short circuit, reportedly damaged several important files and official documents stored in the room.

Fire service personnel rushed to the spot immediately after receiving information about the incident and managed to bring the flames under control before the situation could worsen. Police from Kharvelnagar Police Station also reached the premises to assess the situation and ensure safety and order.

Eyewitnesses said thick smoke rapidly spread through parts of the building, leading to a hurried evacuation of staff and officials. “We noticed smoke coming from the record room and immediately alerted the fire services. It was a tense moment,” said an employee present at the site.

Authorities have not yet determined the full extent of the damage. A detailed inquiry is expected to ascertain the exact cause of the fire and evaluate the loss of crucial records.
