CM Majhi lays foundation for new Odisha Bhawan in New Delhi
Bhubaneswar, Feb 26: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday laid the foundation stone for a new Odisha Bhawan in New Delhi, marking a significant step toward strengthening the state’s presence in the national capital. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the upcoming building will showcase Odisha’s rich heritage, art, and cultural legacy.
The existing Odisha Bhawan in New Delhi, the CM noted, is outdated and lacks adequate space and modern amenities. The new structure will feature three basements, a ground floor, and six additional floors. It will include 45 fully equipped suites for visitors. The first floor will house an exhibition area to promote Odisha’s culture, while the second floor will have a 70-seat conference hall for official meetings and events.
The project, estimated at Rs 93.27 crore, has completed the tender process, and construction will commence soon.
The state government also plans Odisha Bhawans in Ayodhya, Bengaluru, and Surat, while new facilities are proposed in Mumbai. Additionally, a public shelter Bhawan will come up near Bhubaneswar Master Canteen Square to offer affordable short-term accommodation for visitors.
