Man hacked to death by nephew in Balangir, police probe family dispute angle
Bhubaneswar, Jan 21: In a shocking incident, a man was allegedly hacked to death by his nephew at Tulsinagar under the Town Police Station limits in Balangir late on Tuesday night. The deceased has been identified as Jadumani Bagarti. Police suspect that a long-standing family dispute may have triggered the brutal murder.
According to sources, Jadumani was found lying in a pool of blood at around 11 pm. Though locals were initially reluctant to speak about the incident, a broken spade recovered from the spot pointed towards foul play. It is believed that the victim was repeatedly attacked with the spade, leading to fatal injuries.
On receiving information, Town Police rushed to the scene and immediately shifted Jadumani to Bhima Bhoi Hospital. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival. The accused nephew, identified as Aju Bisi, has been detained for questioning as part of the investigation.
The incident has created tension in the area, prompting police to maintain a close watch. A detailed probe has been launched to ascertain the exact motive behind the murder and to reconstruct the sequence of events. Police said further action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation.
