Retired ANM supervisor found murdered in Kalahandi, robbery suspected
Bhubaneswar, Dec 22: A retired Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) supervisor was allegedly found murdered at her residence in Gadiajora village under Dharamgarh police limits in Odisha’s Kalahandi district. The shocking incident reportedly took place late Sunday night when the woman was alone at home.
The deceased has been identified as Suchitra Khuntia (60), a retired ANM supervisor. According to preliminary reports, unidentified miscreants broke into her house, looted valuables, and then brutally killed her. After committing the crime, the assailants allegedly fled the spot on Khuntia’s scooter.
However, the scooter was later found abandoned on the Biju Express Highway, reportedly after it ran out of petrol, providing a crucial clue for investigators. Sources said Khuntia’s husband and son were out of town at the time of the incident, leaving her alone in the house.
On being informed, Dharamgarh police rushed to the spot and launched a detailed investigation. A sniffer dog and forensic team were pressed into service to collect evidence and trace the culprits. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death. Police said further details will emerge as the investigation progresses.
