Bhubaneswar, Dec 18: A shocking incident came to light at Khalari Jamubandha under Angul Sadar police station limits, where a woman was allegedly stoned to death inside her rented house, sending shockwaves through the locality.

The deceased has been identified as Kuni Nayak (47). According to reports, the brutal murder took place on Wednesday night. The crime was discovered when her son went to call her for dinner and found her lying in a pool of blood, with severe injuries caused by stones. He immediately alerted the police.

On receiving information, Angul Sadar police rushed to the spot and launched an investigation. On Thursday morning, a scientific team along with sniffer dogs reached the scene to collect forensic evidence and clues. The body was later sent to the District Headquarters Hospital for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.

As part of the investigation, police have detained the victim’s daughter-in-law and the daughter-in-law’s mother for questioning, suspecting their possible involvement. However, no arrests have been officially confirmed so far.

Police officials said the motive behind the murder is still unclear. Further investigation is underway to establish the circumstances leading to the crime and identify those responsible.
