IMD issues yellow warning for dense fog and cold wave in several Odisha districts
Bhubaneswar, Dec 11: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for multiple districts across Odisha, predicting dense fog and cold wave conditions over the next two days. The advisory urges residents and commuters to remain cautious as winter conditions intensify across the state.
According to the IMD, dense fog is likely to blanket one or two locations in Sundargarh and Koraput districts on December 12 and 13. Visibility may drop significantly during early morning and late-night hours, posing challenges for road travel.
In addition to fog, cold wave conditions are expected to grip several regions. On December 12, isolated pockets of Sundargarh, Angul, Jharsuguda, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Dhenkanal, Kalahandi, and Kandhamal districts may experience severe cold. The spell is likely to continue on December 13, particularly affecting Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, and Angul.
The IMD has advised residents to take adequate measures to stay warm, especially vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and those with health conditions. Motorists have been asked to drive with caution, maintain safe speed limits, and follow traffic rules to avoid accidents during foggy conditions. Authorities are monitoring the situation and urging the public to remain alert as winter intensifies in the coming days.
