Over 1.03 crore women receive first instalment under Subhadra Yojana; nearly 4.4 lakh await further payments
Bhubaneswar, May 29: The Subhadra Yojana, one of Odisha’s flagship welfare schemes for women, has recorded substantial progress, according to the latest update shared by Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida. As of now, 1,03,75,941 women have received the first instalment, while 1,01,92,724 beneficiaries have successfully received the second instalment. However, Parida acknowledged that 4,38,898 women—despite receiving both instalments—are still waiting for the subsequent payments.
Her clarification came during a session of the Odisha Legislative Assembly in response to a query raised by MLA Pabitra Saunta. The MLA sought detailed information on whether students receiving scholarships could simultaneously benefit from the scheme and also raised concerns about delayed disbursements and difficulties faced by some women during the application process.
Addressing these issues, Parida informed the House that 2,27,410 women have newly applied to enroll under the Subhadra Yojana as of November 20, 2025. She further confirmed that students who are eligible women beneficiaries can indeed avail themselves of the scheme’s benefits, provided they meet all the prescribed criteria. The government, she added, is working to resolve pending payment issues to ensure timely assistance for all beneficiaries.
