Naveen Patnaik slams BJP for ‘Betraying People of Nuapada’ ahead of by-poll
Bhubaneswar, Nov 3: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president and Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik on Monday launched a fierce attack on the BJP government in Odisha, accusing it of neglecting the people of Nuapada and the state at large. Addressing a massive public rally ahead of the November 11 by-election, Patnaik urged voters to support BJD candidate Snehangini Chhuria, calling her “a daughter of Nuapada’s soil.”
Patnaik alleged that the BJP government halted development works and failed to fulfill welfare promises during the past 16 months. “Is anyone getting 300 units of free electricity? Are senior citizens receiving ₹3,500 pensions? Have farmers received urea fertilizer?” he questioned, as the crowd responded with a resounding “No.”
Taking aim at the BJP’s rebranding of state schemes, Patnaik said, “There is no work, no progress — only publicity.” He contrasted the state’s Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) with the Centre’s Ayushman Bharat, questioning its reach and efficiency.
Concluding his speech, Patnaik urged voters to “bless Snehangini Chhuria with your votes” to ensure Nuapada’s continued progress under the BJD’s leadership.
