Bhadrak SP suspends sub-inspector for allegedly involving civilian in police work

Bhubaneswar, Oct 10: In a startling development, Bhadrak Superintendent of Police (SP) Manoj Raut has suspended Sub-Inspector Kartik Jena of Bhadrak Rural Police Station for dereliction of duty and unprofessional conduct.
Reports indicate that Jena allegedly instructed a local youth, Piyush Ranjan Panda from Dhusuri area in Dhamnagar block, to impersonate a police officer and investigate a case in Rasikabag village, instead of personally attending the scene. In the process, Jena reportedly provided Panda with a police motorcycle to carry out the probe.
Villagers, sensing irregularities, detained Panda and later handed him over to the police, raising serious questions about the incident.
Addressing the media, Additional SP Arup Abhishek Behera said, “SP Manoj Raut took immediate action and suspended SI Jena after learning of the incident. An investigation has been launched to examine Panda’s association with Jena and the circumstances surrounding the case. Further action will be taken based on the investigation’s findings.”
The suspension has drawn attention to protocol breaches and the misuse of authority, emphasizing the need for strict adherence to professional conduct within the police department. The probe is ongoing, and the administration has assured transparent handling of the matter.
