Woman killed, child critically injured in explosion

Bhubaneswar, June 7: A powerful explosion rocked Ichhapur village under Khanguria Panchayat in the Bolagarh police limits of Khordha district on Friday afternoon, resulting in the tragic death of a 27-year-old woman and leaving a young child critically injured.
The blast occurred inside the house of the deceased, identified as Begum alias Lili, sending shockwaves through the community. Eyewitnesses reported a sudden, deafening noise that drew villagers to the scene, where they found Begum and the child severely injured amid the debris. The incident sparked panic in the locality.
Local police from the Bolagarh station quickly reached the spot and rushed both victims to the Bolagarh Community Health Centre. Unfortunately, doctors declared Begum dead upon arrival. The child remains in critical condition and is undergoing intensive treatment.
Authorities have registered a case and initiated a full-scale investigation. While the exact cause is yet to be confirmed, preliminary reports suggest that illegally stored firecrackers may have triggered the explosion. Police are considering all possibilities and have sent the body for post-mortem to aid the ongoing probe.
