Burglars loot cash and valuables worth lakhs from businessman’s house in Rayagada

Bhubaneswar, May 30: In a shocking incident, burglars targeted the residence of a prominent businessman in Rayagada town and made off with valuables worth several lakhs in the early hours of Friday. The house, located in New Colony, belongs to Subrata Pati, the owner of Hotel Kailash.

As per reports, the burglars gained entry through the back side of the house by cutting the grill of the door, while Pati and his elderly mother, Nishamani, were asleep in the front portion of the house. Taking advantage of the situation, the miscreants broke open two almirahs and looted cash worth ₹10 lakh, around 20 tolas of gold ornaments, and over two kilograms of silver items.

Upon discovering the burglary, Pati immediately informed the police. A team led by Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Gaurahari Sahu, along with forensic experts and a dog squad, arrived at the scene and launched an investigation. Preliminary findings indicate rear-entry by the thieves. CCTV footage from the area has captured some visuals of the suspects, which are now being closely examined for leads.
