Enforcement Directorate probes Odisha mining tycoon for financial irregularities
Bhubaneswar, Jan 8: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) launched simultaneous raids on Wednesday targeting properties linked to Ratnakar Rout, a prominent mining baron in Odisha. The searches are being conducted across 12 locations, including Rout's farmhouse and residence in Dhenkanal and Hindol, as well as three premises in Bhubaneswar.
The raids, which began early in the morning, are part of an ongoing probe into alleged financial irregularities and violations of mining laws. A team of ED officials from Delhi is spearheading the operation, focusing on scrutinizing Rout’s business dealings, financial transactions, and property acquisitions.
Sources reveal that the raids aim to uncover evidence related to illegal mining activities and potential money laundering. This action is part of the ED's broader crackdown on financial crimes in Odisha, following a series of similar operations in recent months.
The investigation is expected to shed light on the scale of the alleged violations, potentially implicating Rout and his associates in significant legal and financial repercussions. More details are awaited.
