Truck driver accused of deliberately killing two BJP leaders in Sambalpur

Bhubaneswar, Jan 6: The deaths of two BJP leaders in a car-truck collision on Sunday have taken a grim turn, with Sambalpur police alleging that the truck driver deliberately caused the accident.
Speaking to the media, Sambalpur SP Mukesh Kumar Bhamoo stated, “Based on the evidence gathered, it appears the truck driver intentionally hit the car. A case has been registered, and further scientific evidence is being collected. We are questioning his associates, and the complete picture will emerge by this evening.”
The accident occurred on NH-53 in Sambalpur district around 1:30 am on January 5, claiming the lives of BJP leaders Devendra Nayak, Mandal President of Goshala, and Muralidhar Chhuria from Charapali village. The two were returning to Chipilima after visiting a former MLA’s residence in Bhubaneswar.
The truck driver, identified as Prasanna Jenamani (30) from Athmallik in Angul district, has been arrested. SP Bhamoo noted that Jenamani’s statements during interrogation have been inconsistent. “We are examining CCTV footage and investigating his background. A clearer statement will be provided after 5-7 hours of additional inquiry,” he said.
The incident has sparked widespread concern, with many awaiting the investigation's outcome to uncover the motive behind the alleged deliberate act.
