Vigilance arrests ARI for disproportionate assets in Koraput
Bhubaneswar, Dec 27: Surendra Tanti, an Assistant Revenue Inspector (ARI) and In-charge Revenue Inspector of Kumuli Circle under Boriguma Tehsil in Koraput district, has been arrested by Odisha Vigilance for amassing disproportionate assets worth crores.
During a detailed investigation, Vigilance officials uncovered wealth far exceeding Tanti’s known sources of income. The assets included three multi-storeyed buildings, 17 plots, fixed deposits exceeding ₹84 lakhs, 150 grams of gold, ₹1.55 lakhs in cash, and three four-wheelers. Despite multiple opportunities, Tanti failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for the origin of these assets.
A case has been registered under Koraput Vigilance PS Case No. 31/2024. The investigation revealed a systematic accumulation of wealth over years, allegedly using his official position for personal gain.
Tanti is set to be presented in court today, while Vigilance officials continue to probe deeper into his financial transactions to identify potential accomplices and any additional undisclosed assets. Further action will follow based on the findings.
