Protests erupt at Paradip Port after worker’s death in accident

Bhubaneswar, Dec 18: Protests at Paradip Port continued unabated as the family members and colleagues of a worker who died following an accident staged demonstrations demanding justice and compensation.
The deceased, identified as Satya Subrat Dalei from Nabadia village under Kujang block in Jagatsinghpur district, was employed by a private contractor at the port. He succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment on Tuesday night.
Holding the port authorities accountable for Dalei’s untimely death, his family and fellow workers began protesting at Gate No. 3 of the port, placing the worker’s body at the site. They have demanded Rs 50 lakh in compensation and a job for one of Dalei’s family members.
The protests have disrupted the movement of vehicles and staff at the gate. Police arrived at the scene to pacify the agitators, but the protesters have vowed to continue until their demands are met, creating a tense standoff at the port.
