Cold wave grips Mayurbhanj as temperature plummets to 1°C

Bhubaneswar, Dec 17: A biting cold wave swept across Mayurbhanj district on Monday, with temperatures dipping as low as 1°C in some regions. Residents woke up to a freezing morning as the chill intensified.
As per the latest weather reports, Udala recorded the lowest temperature at 1°C, while other parts of the district also shivered under the cold. Chahala recorded 4°C, Barehipani and Gurguria reported 6°C each, while Ramatirtha and Kiajhari recorded 10°C. Nawana registered a minimum temperature of 5°C and a maximum of 21°C, with humidity levels between 84% and 85%.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the cold wave will persist across Odisha for the next 24 hours, with temperatures likely to drop further in several districts. Additionally, IMD issued warnings for dense fog in Koraput and Kandhamal districts, which may reduce visibility and disrupt transportation.
Residents are advised to wrap up warmly and take necessary precautions to stay safe during the ongoing cold spell.
