Khalistani threat: Journalist Akshay Sahoo receives menacing email

Bhubaneswar, Nov 30: Veteran journalist Akshay Sahoo has received a chilling email from Gurpatwant Pannun, a self-proclaimed Khalistani activist, threatening to disrupt the ongoing national DGP conference in Bhubaneswar. The email, sent around 9:04 a.m., offered a reward of ₹25 lakh for anyone daring to hoist a Khalistani flag during the event.
Initially dismissed as spam, the email’s content revealed grave threats, explicitly targeting Bhubaneswar’s Biju Patnaik International Airport. Pannun also issued an audio message, ominously declaring December 1 as “D-Day,” urging people to avoid flying to or from the city.
The email, laden with incendiary remarks, labeled Bhubaneswar a “terror city” and challenged Indian police chiefs to defend the nation’s integrity, warning of coordinated attacks by Khalistani supporters, Naxals, and Kashmiri fighters.
The Odisha Police are on high alert, treating the threat with utmost seriousness. Security has been tightened across key locations, including the airport and Lok Seva Bhawan, to prevent any untoward incidents.
