Rajya Sabha bypolls announced: Odisha among four states to vote on December 20

Bhubaneswar, Nov 26: The Election Commission of India (EC) has announced the schedule for Rajya Sabha bypolls in four states, including Odisha, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, and Haryana. These elections are being held to fill vacancies created by the resignations of sitting members.
The members who stepped down are Venkataramana Mopidevi, Beedha Masthan Rao Yadav, and Ryaga Krishnaiah from Andhra Pradesh; Sujeet Kumar from Odisha; Jawahar Sircar from West Bengal; and Krishan Lal Panwar from Haryana.
As per the EC, the bypolls will take place on December 20, with voting scheduled from 9 AM to 4 PM. The counting of votes will also occur on the same day.
The election process will begin with the issuance of the official notification on December 3. Candidates must submit their nominations by December 10, and the scrutiny of nominations will be conducted on December 11. This ensures that the seats are filled promptly.
