Commuters stranded as LAccMI bus drivers protest in Bhograi block

Bhubaneswar, Oct 14: Commuters in Bhograi block of Balasore district are facing challenges as drivers of Location Accessible Multi-modal Initiative (LAccMI) buses have gone on strike, demanding the resolution of their six-point charter.
The protest began after the Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC) allegedly failed to address their long-pending issues. Key demands include limiting work hours to 8 hours and introducing a fixed daily wage structure.
Expressing his frustration, one protesting driver said, “We have repeatedly informed the authorities about our grievances, but no action has been taken. With no other choice, we decided to strike. While we seek fixed duty hours, they have threatened us with penalties.”
He further stated that the protest will continue until their demands are addressed.
Currently, six LAccMI buses operate in Bhograi, providing affordable transport to hundreds of passengers. The strike has disrupted services, leaving many commuters stranded. Authorities are yet to respond to the situation.
