Family accuses Anugul DHH of negligence after newborn’s death
Bhubaneswar, Oct 2: The death of a newborn at Anugul District Headquarters Hospital has led to outrage from the child’s family, who allege that they were not informed in time about the baby’s condition.
Liza, wife of Bapu Gochhayat from Rengali village, gave birth to a baby boy on September 27 at Kaniha Hospital. Due to the baby’s poor health, doctors recommended shifting him to the Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) at the District Headquarters Hospital for further treatment.
Initially placed in bed 16, the baby was moved to bed 12 as his condition worsened. Sadly, he passed away shortly after.
The family questioned the hospital’s decision to move the baby without informing them, asking, “Why was the baby shifted without our knowledge?” Additionally, the family alleged that the deceased baby was not their child. The situation escalated, but police intervention brought it under control.
