Bhubaneswar readies for phase III elections with tightened security measures

Bhubaneswar, May 22: In preparation for Phase III of the Odisha elections scheduled for May 25, Commissionerate Police has significantly increased security in the state capital to prevent any violence during polling.
Police sources indicate that enhanced security measures are in place to ensure free and fair voting at 1,132 booths in Bhubaneswar, which fall under the jurisdiction of Commissionerate Police. Special precautions have been implemented for 145 sensitive booths and 421 Sakhi booths in the city. Additionally, webcasting will be conducted at 525 polling booths.
As part of the security plan, 15 flying squads and 15 strategic surveillance teams will be deployed to ensure a violence-free election. CRPF personnel will also be stationed at sensitive booths. Security will be further intensified following the conclusion of the poll campaign on the evening of May 23.
Police Commissioner Sanjeev Panda stated, “Polling will take place in five assembly constituencies in Bhubaneswar. Of the 1,132 polling booths, 145 have been identified as sensitive. CRPF personnel will be deployed at these sensitive booths. To ensure violence-free elections, 15 flying squads and 15 strategic surveillance teams are working around the clock. We will increase security checks after the campaign ends.”
