Rahul Gandhi's Odisha campaign deferred as nomination filing takes priority

Bhubaneswar, May 3: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has decided to cancel his planned visit to Odisha as he prepares to file his nomination papers today. The announcement comes as Congress reveals that Rahul Gandhi will contest the Raebareli Lok Sabha seat, previously held by his mother Sonia Gandhi.
Rahul Gandhi's Odisha visit was slated for today, with plans to campaign in Rayagada district and address a large gathering at the ICAR field in Barijhola. Odisha PCC President Sarat Pattnayak and state Congress in-charge Ajoy Kumar were also scheduled to join him.
During a recent public meeting in Cuttack district on April 28, Rahul Gandhi outlined several election promises for Odisha, including monthly transfers of Rs 2,000 to women and Rs 3,000 to eligible unemployed youth. He pledged 200 units of free electricity, subsidized cooking gas cylinders, farmer loan waivers, and a minimum support price of Rs 3,000 per quintal of paddy.
Furthermore, Rahul assured jobs for unemployed youth under the 'Pehli Naukri Pakki' scheme, monthly financial assistance of Rs 8,500 for women in poor families, and a doubling of salaries for ASHA and Anganwadi workers.
