Mercury soars in Odisha: Heatwave alert issued as temperatures soar
Bhubaneswar, April 25: he latest report from the local Meteorological Office reveals that eight locations in Odisha surpassed the 40°C mark by 2:30 pm on Thursday.
A prolonged heatwave-like condition has persisted across most parts of Odisha for nearly a month now. At 2:30 pm, Jharsuguda registered the highest temperature in the state at 43.6°C.
Authorities have cautioned residents against venturing outdoors between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm, advising them to take necessary precautions if they must go out during these hours.

The Meteorological Center in Bhubaneswar has issued a warning for severe heatwave conditions in Odisha for the next five days, extending till May 4. Daytime temperatures are expected to rise by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius over the next four to five days.
An alert has been issued for North Coastal Odisha and South Coastal Odisha districts for a heatwave within the next 24 hours. Additionally, an orange alert has been issued for Ganjam and Gajapati districts.
Most districts in the state are anticipated to experience heatwave conditions, with severe heatwaves expected on April 27 and April 28. Some districts may even witness temperatures exceeding 45 degrees Celsius in the coming days. The uninterrupted heatwave conditions have persisted since March 15, although rainfall is anticipated in certain areas in May.
