Former SCW Chairperson and husband step down from BJD
Bhubaneswar, April 11: On Thursday, former Chairperson of the State Commission for Women (SCW), Jyoti Panigrahi, and her husband, Saroj Panigrahi, tendered their resignations from the primary membership of the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD).
Jyoti conveyed her decision through a resignation letter addressed to BJD Supremo Naveen Patnaik.
"In light of my nearly 30-year association with the BJD and Janata Dal, it is with a heavy heart that I hereby resign from my position as senior vice president of Biju Mahila Janata Dal, as well as from the role of observer for Sundargarh district, along with relinquishing all other responsibilities and my primary membership with the Biju Janata Dal," stated her resignation letter.
Saroj, Jyoti's husband, cited the sidelining of loyal members of the BJD as the impetus for his departure from the regional party. "After an association spanning nearly a lifetime, from 1977 to 1997 with Late Biju Babu and subsequently with the BJD since its inception, I deeply regret to announce my resignation from the primary membership of the Biju Janata Dal," he expressed in his resignation letter.
