Keonjhar road tragedy: Double fatality followed by grandfather's heartbreaking end
Keonjhar, Feb 23: Tragedy struck in Odisha's Keonjhar district on Friday morning when a slag-laden truck collided with a scooter at Pipila Chhak under Ghatgaon police limits, resulting in the instantaneous death of a man and his son.
Kande Munda and his son Laxman Munda were en route to Bankpatuli weekly market from Barigaon when the speeding truck, traveling from Keonjhar town, collided with their scooter. Both father and son tragically lost their lives on the spot. Their bodies were subsequently transported to Keonjhar District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for post-mortem examination.
Upon hearing the devastating news of his son and grandson's demise, Sarma Munda suffered a fatal heart attack at his residence in Bari village.
In response to the accident and the loss of the duo, the grief-stricken villagers of Bari staged a road blockade on National Highway – 20, demanding compensation for the bereaved family and the immediate arrest of the truck driver. As tensions mounted, local law enforcement authorities struggled to restore order at the scene.
