Thousands of tribal cases to be withdrawn in Odisha, easing legal strain

Bhubaneswar, Feb 21: Under the directive of Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the Home Department, Excise Department, and Forest and Environment Department conducted a comprehensive review of tribal cases in the state on Wednesday.
Following the review, it was decided to withdraw 48,018 cases pertaining to forest and deforestation across the aforementioned departments, following a thorough examination.
Of these cases, 36,581 fall under the purview of the Excise Department, 9,846 under the Home Department, and 1,591 under the Forest and Environment Department. The withdrawal of these cases aims to alleviate pressure on the courts and the judicial system.
