BJD MLA Prafulla Samal under ED scrutiny: Raids across Bhadrak and Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar, Feb 15: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) launched a series of raids today across various locations associated with former minister and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MLA Prafulla Samal, who represents the Bhandaripokhari constituency.
According to sources, the central probe agency targeted 10 locations, encompassing six sites in Bhadrak and four in Bhubaneswar. Among the locations raided was the residence of the former principal of Barapada Engineering College, which falls under Samal's purview.
The raids are suspected to be linked to a Rs 20 crore land scam allegedly involving Barapada Engineering College. A six-member team from the ED conducted the search at Samal's residence, extending their investigation to residences of some of his relatives.
Samal and his son are accused of misappropriating funds, purportedly collected as fees from students, to purchase land and properties in Bhubaneswar and elsewhere. Despite previous complaints against them, no action was taken, prompting the transfer of the case to the ED.
