Fatal elephant attack claims life in Balasore: Villager trampled to death

Balasore, Jan 16: A man lost his life in a tragic incident this morning when he was attacked by an elephant at Khunta village, located within the Raibania police limits in Balasore district.
The deceased, identified as Debendra Giri, a resident of the village, had gone to his kitchen garden to harvest vegetables when he was unexpectedly attacked by the tusker. The brutal encounter resulted in his immediate demise, as he was fatally trampled.
Concerned about Debendra's prolonged absence, his family initiated a search and discovered him lying on the ground in a pool of blood. Upon receiving the information, a team of forest personnel intervened, dispersing the elephant and retrieving Debendra's lifeless body. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, doctors pronounced him dead.
In a separate incident today, two individuals, Samarai Tudu and Gurubari Tudu from another village in the district, suffered severe injuries after being attacked by the same elephant.
