Tragic drowning incident claims lives of toddler cousins in Jajpur village
Jajpur, Jan 6: In a tragic event this Saturday, a 3-year-old boy named Kanha and a 2-year-old girl named Rupa drowned in a pond located in Lalbag Kulasahi village, within the Mangalpur police jurisdiction in Jajpur district.
Reports indicate that the children, who were cousins, tragically lost their lives while playing near their residence. The incident unfolded as their mothers were occupied in the kitchen, unaware of the unfolding tragedy.
Local residents rescued the children from the pond and promptly transported them to the Government Hospital in Mangalpur. Regrettably, despite the efforts made, the attending doctors at the hospital declared both Kanha and Rupa deceased.
The Mangalpur police have taken custody of the bodies and sent them for autopsy. Further investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are currently underway.
