Police ASI brutally attacked in Odisha's Boudh district during kidnapping inquiry

Bhubaneswar, Jan 4: In a distressing incident, unidentified miscreants reportedly assaulted and critically wounded a Police Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) in Odisha's Boudh district on Wednesday night. The attack occurred while the ASI, identified as Kumuda Bhoi from Manamunda police station, was investigating a kidnapping case in a village.
Initially taken to the Sonepur District Headquarters Hospital in a critical state, Bhoi's condition worsened, prompting a transfer to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Balangir and later to Vikash Hospital in Bargarh.
Reports indicate that Bhoi, accompanied by two home guards, had arrived at Dapala village in Boudh in a PCR van. Upon reaching the village, a group of 10-12 unidentified miscreants intercepted the PCR van, assaulting Bhoi with sticks and weapons. The home guards and the PCR van driver quickly fled the scene, fearing a similar attack.
Local villagers came to Bhoi's rescue, finding him critically injured, and promptly admitted him to Sonepur DHH. The police have initiated a case in connection with the incident and launched an extensive manhunt to apprehend the perpetrators.
