Odisha reports two JN.1 COVID cases amid overall decrease

Bhubaneswar, Jan 4: In the latest 24-hour period, Odisha identified three new active COVID cases, including one individual infected with the JN.1 sub-variant of COVID-19. Currently, the state has a total of two JN.1 patients. However, the overall patient count decreased from 27 to 25 on Wednesday, as five individuals successfully recovered during this timeframe.
All patients, including those with the JN.1 sub-variant, are in stable health conditions and are undergoing treatment while in home isolation.
Odisha's Public Health Director, Dr. Bijay Mohapatra, noted that the first JN.1 case in the state was identified on Wednesday, and the patient's condition remains stable. Dr. Mohapatra highlighted that globally, symptoms of the JN.1 sub-variant of COVID are generally not severe and can be managed through home isolation following established COVID guidelines.
Nationwide, 775 new COVID cases were reported in the last 24 hours, bringing the total tally to 4,423. During this period, two individuals succumbed to the infection, with one death each reported in Karnataka and Kerala, as indicated by data from the Union Ministry for Health and Family Welfare.
