Unidentified culprits rob over Rs 14 lakh from Damapada branch of Banki Central Cooperative Bank

Cuttack, Dec 29: Late on Thursday night, unidentified miscreants allegedly carried out a theft at the Damapada branch of the Banki Central Cooperative Bank, making off with over Rs 14 lakh. The theft reportedly occurred under the Banki police limits.
The miscreants are said to have stolen the cash by breaking open the bank's locker and also absconded with the hard disk from the bank's CCTV system. The incident was discovered when the branch's manager, Ramesh Chandra Mohapatra, arrived at the bank at 10:00 am the following day.
Upon receiving the information, the police promptly arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation. It was noted that the night watchman was not on duty during the night when the theft took place.
A police official stated, "Miscreants have stolen cash kept in the bank’s iron chest by breaking open the lock. We are investigating the matter."
