CM Naveen to Inaugurate Malkangiri airport in January
Bhubaneswar: Malkangiri, Odisha's southernmost district, is on the verge of acquiring air connectivity, with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik scheduled to inaugurate the Malkangiri Airport in January, revealed Vineel Krishna, IAS officer and Special Secretary to the CM.
Expressing immense delight, the bureaucrat shared, "A dream realized! This announcement brings immense joy. The most remote district will soon be accessible through scheduled flights. The Hon’ble CM will grace the Malkangiri airport for its inauguration in early January. An incredible sight to behold…"
Anticipated to catalyze rapid economic growth in the area, the airport spans over 94.5 hectares, constructed at an estimated cost of about Rs 33 crore.
This marks another significant milestone in enhancing connectivity for the district, following the inauguration of the Gurupriya bridge by the Chief Minister in 2018. The bridge has played a pivotal role in linking the remote areas (Swabhimana Anchala) of the district to the mainland, ensuring road connectivity.
