Odisha Crime Branch unravels Kashmiri conman's web of deceit
Bhubaneswar, Dec 22: In the ongoing interrogation of Kashmiri individual Sayed Ishaan Bukhari, who is currently in police custody, the Odisha Crime Branch's Special Task Force (STF) has obtained access to his call detail records (CDR) report.
Bukhari, apprehended from his rented residence in Neulapur, Jajpur district, on December 15, engaged in WhatsApp conversations with numerous individuals, and some of his previously deleted voice messages have been successfully recovered, as per insider reports.
Subsequent to his arrest, the STF confiscated four phones and two damaged devices, which were subsequently submitted to a cyber forensic laboratory for analysis. Telecom companies were also enlisted to furnish call detail records pertaining to five SIM cards associated with Bukhari.
Ongoing investigations have unveiled that he served as an agent for a Chinese dating app and conducted financial transactions using nine bank accounts. Additionally, he borrowed money from four wives, one of whom resides in Solapur and is reportedly a lecturer. Bukhari further swindled individuals out of substantial sums by falsely presenting himself as an official from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
It has also been disclosed that despite failing Class XII, Bukhari is proficient in six languages. Sources indicate that a police team from Kashmir may soon arrive in Odisha for further interrogation.
Bukhari is currently undergoing intense questioning by Intelligence Bureau (IB) officers regarding his connections with suspected ISI agent Mufti Tariq Masood. Concurrently, Punjab Police are scrutinizing his alleged association with the drug mafia, given that his uncle was previously arrested for smuggling 3 kg of heroin a few years ago.
