Odisha cold wave: Bhubaneswar, Cuttack shiver at 13°C for consecutive days

Bhubaneswar, Dec 17: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that for the second consecutive day, the temperature in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack hovered around 13 degrees Celsius. Bhubaneswar experienced a minimum temperature of 13.5 degrees Celsius, 2.8 degrees below the normal, while Cuttack recorded 13.4 degrees Celsius, one degree below the usual minimum.
The IMD noted that eight places in the state witnessed night temperatures dipping below 10 degrees Celsius. Phulbani in Kandhamal recorded the lowest temperature at 8 degrees Celsius, followed by Rourkela (8.8), Angul (9), Sundargarh and Daringbadi in Kandhamal, each at 9.5 degrees Celsius, Koraput and Keonjhar, each at 9.6 degrees Celsius, and Jharsuguda (9.8).
Dense fog, reducing visibility to 50 meters, was observed in Koraput and Phulbani in Kandhamal, while Keonjhar and Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi experienced shallow to moderate fog.
The MeT office forecasts no significant change in the minimum temperature over the next 4-5 days. Shallow to moderate fog may prevail in one or two places in Kalahandi, Koraput, Kandhamal, Balangir, Sundargarh, and Jharsuguda until Monday morning. Shallow to moderate fog is also expected in one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Jharsuguda, Koraput, and Rayagada over the next 24 hours.
