Puri, Dec 17: Unidentified group of criminals has targeted a temple in Odisha, this time looting cash and valuables from the donation box at the Madanmohan temple within the premises of the Sakhigopal temple in Puri district.

The incident came to light on Sunday morning, with suspicions that the robbery occurred late on Saturday night. The temple priest discovered the theft early in the morning upon reaching the temple premises.

According to the priest, the stolen items included cash and ornaments typically contributed by devotees visiting the temple. After taking the valuables from the donation box, the miscreants discarded the box near the temple's kitchen.

The Satyabadi police have arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation into the incident.

"Two security personnel were sleeping, and when they woke up at around 3 am, they found the locks of the temple broken. We have found four locks broken. We have found some fingerprints, and efforts are on to nab the miscreants," said police.
