Rare Telia fish fetches whopping Rs 25 lakh at Paradip auction

Paradip, Dec 11: A group of fishermen from Pardip has got Rs 25 lakh by auctioning substantial quantity of Telia fish during a night-time expedition in the deep sea.
The catch, exceeding three quintals in weight and comprising 17 rare Telia fish, was swiftly transported to the auction area. In a surprising turn of events, these 17 fish were auctioned for an impressive sum of Rs. 25 lakh, with a local company emerging as the winning bidder.
The Telia fish, highly coveted in Paradip, attracted considerable interest among buyers, leading to the substantial auction. The intestines of these rare fish are particularly valuable, commanding high prices due to their application in pharmaceutical manufacturing. Notably, the maw of the Telia fish is also sought after for the production of drugs, some of which are exported abroad.
Fishermen in the area highlighted the rarity of such a massive Telia fish haul, emphasizing that a single catch of this nature can significantly elevate the financial fortunes of those involved in the capture.
