Odisha Sub-Inspector caught red-handed accepting bribe

Boudh, Nov 22: Vigilance authorities in Odisha's Boudh district apprehended a police sub-inspector on Tuesday for accepting a bribe.
The Vigilance team responded to a complaint accusing Sub-Inspector Bikram Dehuri, stationed at Baunsuni police station, of demanding a Rs 15,000 bribe for the release of a seized vehicle. The complainant further alleged that despite a court order, the police officer refused to release the vehicle.
Acting on the complaint, the Vigilance unit set a trap, instructing the complainant to hand over the money to Sub-Inspector Dehuri. While the bribe was being received through PhonePe, Vigilance officers caught the sub-inspector in the act, recovering the entire amount from his possession.
Following the apprehension, Vigilance conducted simultaneous raids on the sub-inspector's properties at various locations, focusing on potential assets obtained through corrupt practices. Searches were conducted in Dehuri's office room, his government residence, and a residential building owned by him in Purunakatak district.
