Depression over BoB today, to trigger heavy rainfall in Odisha: IMD

Bhubaneswar, Nov 15: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted the formation of a depression in the Bay of Bengal today, potentially leading to heavy rainfall across several districts of Odisha tomorrow.
The IMD stated, "The Well Marked Low Pressure Area over Southeast & adjoining central Bay of Bengal now lies over Westcentral and adjoining areas of Eastcentral & south Bay of Bengal. It is likely to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a Depression over Westcentral Bay of Bengal during the next 06 hours. Thereafter, it would move northwestwards and may intensify into a Deep Depression over Westcentral Bay of Bengal off Andhra Pradesh coast on 16th November. Subsequently, it would recurve north-northeastwards and reach Northwest Bay of Bengal off Odisha coast on 17th November," in its morning bulletin.
The agency has issued a Yellow Warning for heavy rainfall in several Odisha districts on November 16 and 17 in association with this system.
On November 16, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places in districts such as Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, and Puri, with heavy rainfall expected in areas of Ganjam, Khurda, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Jajpur, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, and Nayagarh.
While on November 17, heavy rainfall is anticipated at one or two places in districts including Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, and Kendrapara.
