Online registration for Habishyalis begins for Kartika Brata in Puri
Bhubaneswar, Oct 6: Online registration for women observing Kartika Brata, popularly known as Habishyalis, has begun in Puri, allowing devotees to apply for free accommodation and other facilities during the holy month of Kartika.
This year, Kartika Brata will be observed from October 26 to November 24. Under the government’s arrangement, as many as 2,500 Habishyalis will be provided free accommodation and related facilities in Puri during the month-long religious observance.
The selected women will be accommodated at Brundabati Nivas, the Municipal Kalyan Mandap and the Railway Tourist Complex. Besides accommodation, the beneficiaries will be provided organised darshan at the Shree Jagannath Temple and free Mahaprasad as part of the arrangements.
Women from all 30 districts of Odisha are eligible to apply for the scheme. The online registration process has been introduced to facilitate applications and streamline the selection of eligible beneficiaries.
Interested applicants can submit their applications through the Odisha government’s e-District portal. Registration will remain open until the designated quota of 2,500 applicants is filled.
The Kartika month holds special religious significance for devotees, particularly women who observe Habisha Brata and stay in Puri to undertake various religious rituals and worship Lord Jagannath.
Authorities are expected to make necessary arrangements for the accommodation, food, temple darshan and other facilities of the selected Habishyalis during their stay in Puri.
