Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to visit Odisha, inspect HAL unit in Sunabeda
Bhubaneswar, Oct 5: Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to undertake a one-day visit to Odisha on Tuesday, during which he will travel to Koraput district and inspect the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) defence production facility at Sunabeda.
According to reports, Rajnath Singh will visit the HAL unit as part of his Odisha tour and attend a programme organised at the facility. During the visit, he is expected to review various activities related to defence production and interact with senior officials of HAL as well as officers associated with the defence sector.
The Defence Minister is also likely to take stock of the ongoing operations and production-related activities at the Sunabeda facility. Discussions may cover issues concerning the functioning and development of the strategically important HAL unit.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi is also scheduled to be present during the Defence Minister’s visit. The visit assumes significance in view of the role of the Sunabeda facility in India’s defence production ecosystem and its importance to the region.
The Defence Minister’s programme is expected to include interactions with officials and a review of activities at the HAL facility before he concludes his Odisha visit.
After completing his engagements in Koraput, Rajnath Singh is scheduled to return to Delhi in the afternoon via Raipur. The visit comes as the Centre continues to focus on strengthening domestic defence production and enhancing the country’s defence manufacturing capabilities.
