Odisha Police invites applications for 113 special police officer posts
Bhubaneswar, Oct 5: The South Western Range (SWR) of Odisha Police has invited applications from retired Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs), Sub-Inspectors (SIs) and Inspectors of Police for recruitment to 113 posts of Special Police Officers (SPOs) on a contractual basis.
The vacancies will be filled across six districts—Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi and Nuapada. Rayagada has the highest number of vacancies with 24 posts, followed by Koraput with 22, Malkangiri with 20, Kalahandi with 18, Nabarangpur with 16 and Nuapada with 13 posts.
Eligible retired police personnel can submit their applications to the Deputy Inspector General of Police, South Western Range, Koraput. Applications must reach the DIG’s office by 5.30 pm on October 15, 2026. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
Applicants must be permanent residents of Odisha and should not be above 65 years of age as on the date of publication of the advertisement. They must be able to read, write and speak Odia and should have an unblemished service record, with no pending criminal cases or previous convictions.
The selection test will be held at the Reserve Police Ground, Koraput, at 6.30 am on October 28. It will include document verification, medical examination, physical test and interview. Candidates must complete a 5-km walk within one hour to qualify.
Selected SPOs will be engaged for one year on contract and will receive remuneration as per Odisha Government Finance Department guidelines.
