Bhubaneswar, Sep 3: The flood situation in Odisha continued to improve, with the overall situation remaining under control as river levels across the State showed a falling trend and rainfall activity declined significantly. The State Government, in coordination with district administrations, is closely monitoring the situation while relief, response and restoration measures continue in affected areas.

According to the latest report of the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC), Jajpur, Mayurbhanj and Baleshwar remain affected. In Jajpur’s Dasarathpur block, 19 Gram Panchayats and 62 villages are affected, with 22 relief camps sheltering 7,745 beneficiaries.

In Mayurbhanj, 21 blocks, 53 GPs and 97 villages, along with two Baripada Municipality wards, remain affected. Twenty-nine relief camps are accommodating 10,501 beneficiaries. Besides, 104 houses have been damaged and nine polythene rolls distributed.

In Baleshwar, five blocks covering 41 GPs and 214 villages are affected, with 72 relief camps sheltering 35,740 beneficiaries. A total of 47 response teams—21 ODRAF, four NDRF and 22 Fire & Emergency Services—are deployed across the affected districts.

The Subarnarekha remains the only river above danger level. At Rajghat, it stood at 10.84 metres at noon and was falling. Other major rivers, including the Mahanadi, Brahmani, Baitarani and Burhabalanga, were also showing declining trends.

The Hirakud reservoir stood at 627.29 ft, with an inflow of 1,41,962 cusecs, outflow of 78,429 cusecs and four gates open.
